Well, I made the character, I'm naming him Ambigon. I might make another similar creature later to act as a sort of rival, although technically, they aren't dangerous in a sense that they can hurt you.

I personally think that a race should be able to be submitted trough any medium, as long as we have some sort of picture.

Spore is fine and dandy; it gives a good way to view the entire creature without any sort of physical description. Other programs, like Sculptris, can work similarly.

Drawings are a bit tougher. I feel that drawings should have at least some physical description added, for it's a bit harder to get a good idea of what this creature is.

I've been noticing that RG has been becoming more geared towards roleplaying, and as such, will be getting a little more distant from Spore.

We still have a place for adventures, but I'm glad that you support a win-win solution.

Ya know... has anyone ever thought of doing both at the same time? For instance, drawing a commander in the foreground of a massive army made of spore units? Like a... sort of mixed art.

You know what, know that I think about it...
This thread is important. Spore is useful, but if we're inviting someone to join RG, we should tell them they don't have to have Spore. I was thinking about Luminar. But he did say he's not much into roleplay, so he wouldn't join anyways.

Since we're delving more into RP we should try to advertise and cater towards that crowd. Spore is useful for visualization if you're not into 3D modelling or drawing, yes, but we can't make it a crutch. We shouldn't force people to use it, either. I like the phrase, "To each their own," in this situation to a degree, but RP should be more of a focus for us rather than adventures, simply because some people may not be able to experience the stories we craft in adventures.

Adventures are like "illustrated dioramas of events" or whatnot. The main "meat and potatoes" are in the RP. I mean, currently not even I can play the adventures, since I don't have C&C. But there's some pretty good adventures out there, and if we can make a good adventure that has a link here, we might get some new empires springing up Very Happy.

My point is that not everybody can experience those "illustrated dioramas of events," even right now. It's not really fair to exclude people from what might be a really good story. If you want to advertise that way, go for it, but it should be clear that new empires cannot be too influenced by Spore, such as the history being stages, biology being based around Spore parts, etc.

Dude, I just told you not even I can play adventures. And there is nearly nothing I am basing off of Spore mechanics. In fact, I'm basing Gyelidoran history a little too much on Human history, one could say. (But I tried to make it a mishmash of different histories)

I was not referencing your empire, I was referencing any adventures people make or new empires that come into the club from the Spore community.

I know. I'm saying that, even if you use Spore, it's not always you base your history off of Spore. Just check the Sporewiki for what I mean. The biggest thing based off on Spore would probably be using trait cards in your nations' history, and even less realistic is thinking that your creature's biology could influence your nation's history (sometimes also happens in regular Sci-Fi too I think)

Not all people are creative or artistis, I, for one, am creative but it's hard for me to put things on paper, especially mammals. You know my Rylonian? Well, back a few months ago on the SPORUM, Grindstone made this for me!

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

And I've used ever since, especially now that I don't play Spore anymore.

There is a place for both. But seriously, we're not a big enough club to detach from Spore entirely. Spore is the only reason we have as many members as we do. Have of the people that's joined have been random people that have noticed our creations on Sporepedia.

I love the idea of detaching, but we're just too small to do that. I could only see that happening if we were to finally release a good video game or an animation on youtube or something, or if our RPs grew to towering heights.

To be honest, I came here for the Spore more than the RP, but I can do both. (Also, where are you Your Majesty? You said you'd be online all day)

You know... now that I think of it... I came to RG strictly for Spore + GA with a deep storyline. That's why I was here in the first place. Forum RP is just like making a book, and I'm kinda tired of that -_-... But, anyhow, I'll stay. It's alright.
