Rise of Thart - (IC) Empty Rise of Thart - (IC)

An older Dranzoot male sat. He wore only thin gray cloth provided by his captors. He was surrounded by a large camp of metal buildings and makeshift roads. Drones patrolled this strange place. Smoke from the factory buildings rose in the air.

Two Samian drones flanked the Dranzoot male as he sat on a metal bench. A real Samian stood in front. Male from the looks of it. Skin sprayed the color gray. "So are you going to talk or not?"

The Dranzoot did not respond. The Samian grabbed him by the neck and pulled him up to a standing position, slamming him against the building behind him. The Samian snarled, choking the Dranzoot.

"Where are the organisms we're looking for? Where did you send them?" He growled.

"You're a bloody fool if you think I'll ever tell you. What do I have to lose anyway? They have a chance to escape. I do not. I'll die either way" he said.

"No, you will not die. I'll keep you alve and torture you as painfully as possible without it killing you. Unless you give me the information I need. If we had the money for one of the memory retrieval machines, I'd just extract it from you then!" He releases the Dranzoot, allowing him to fall back onto the bench.

The Dranzoot gave a worried expression. Another Samian android approached from behind the Samian. "Captain Crozhus, Syprus would like to speak with you. A transmitter is waiting at your disposal."

"Watch this fool until I get back" he said departing. The android assumed a new position of eyeing the stranger.

Crozhus entered a small metal building. It was one room and circular. Almost like a tent. There were several guards within the room. The room was centered with a circular transmitter table. It was blinking, indicating an incoming call.

A pink hologram of a Samian appeared. This one was dressed in fine cloaks. Amazing robes. Crozhus took a respectful lurch forward. "An honor to be receiving you, Emperor. What do you need?"

"Have you extracted the information yet?" he asked.

"No. Dajek is being uncooperative. I will have to enforce harsher methods of interrogation. He will spill" Crozhus said.

Syprus nodded. "He had better. We must have those escapees found. We can't allow word of this invasion spread to the rest of the Confederacy. Our war with the Dranzoot should strictly remain between us and them. I don't want their friends butting in. It's none of their business."

"What fools they would be to" Crozhus said.

"Indeed," Syprus went on. "Have your forces begun constructing the Firebrand Megalact?"

"Of course" Crozhus replied. Syprus nodded.

"Good, good. I am sending shipments of some... Bio materials. Take... Good care of it."

Crozhus stepped forward, whispering, "what is it?"

Syprus's holographic figure lurches forward. "Karthla pathogens. Spray them over anyone not cooperating. But do this within a confined area, do not let the virus spread to the rest of the world. It's to be used for punishment purposes. Also, if your base should ever become overrun, set off bombs of the stuff. It will destroy the forces invading."

"Very well. Thank you, Emperor."

"You're welcome. Now, I must go. I may call back later. Goodbye," he said before his figure faded.

General Idrin min Azzir of the Markovan army looked up as the mechanic approached. The mechanic wiped his face with a dirty rag before speaking. "I'm afraid the propulsion systems are completely done in, Sir. There's no chance of repairing them without the proper equipment."

Captain Razzin vin Dazzi angrily slashed at some vegetation with his sword, cursing. "Those vile Samiens! We were just passing by, and they shoot us without provocation. We lost a score of good soldiers in that crash, and a dozen more were severally injured. They will pay for this!"

Idrin rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "How are the communication systems? Are they still working?"

"They're a bit cooked, I think, but it's nothing that couldn't be fixed within an hour."

"Get to it at once," said the General. He then turned to Captain Razzin. "In the meantime, we must turn to securing our position and treating the injured."

Razzin nodded. "When the communication systems are up and running, we should call in a good squadron of warships and wipe these Samiens out."

Idrin waved his hand. "We'll look into war later. Right now, the focus ought to be on getting our men out safely."

"You aren't seriously suggesting we just let these foul creatures get away with what they did, are you?" said Razzin incredulously.

"I'm suggesting that we prioritize what is most important right now at this moment," replied Idrin calmly. "We must see to what needs most to be done first. Have patience, Razzin."

All in all, sixty Markovan troops were still alive. Twelve of them were badly injured, with few of the others being unhurt in some way, though not seriously. What medics there were tended to the wounded. Meanwhile, the rest set about salvaging what could be saved from the wreckage of their ship, with the exception of those posted on guard duty.

Ziana stood on a large building, overlooking the massively growing camp. Dranzoot prisoners were being hauled to and fro. Occasionally one would step out of line and she'd gun it down from her perch.

A soldier sped over to her on a Hovergek. The Hovergek in appearance was a large bulge that one stood on with handles that came up a large stem. Very elegant in ways, but very brutal and warlike in others. It was very similar to a Zraak's Kolgosurf in design.

The soldier looked at her and then spoke in its metallic voice. "Commander, we have received word that there is a base about thirty miles from here that travels deep underground. Somehow it managed to slip by use during the Planetary Invasion. Commander Athuul would like to make an arrangement for an assault in three hours."

"Very well" Ziana said. "Send for a force sized accordingly. Battalions can be sent if needed. Strike in three."

Razzin was restless. He had gone all around the camp offering what help he could, but he couldn't help that itch he had. He just had to do something concerning fighting. At last, he went to General Idrin. "Sir, permission to take two troops on a scouting mission."

"Is there a reason for this, Captain? asked Idrin.

"If I may say so, Sir, it is important to have an idea of what's going on around us."

"Indeed," said Idrin. "You have my permission. But Razzin. . ."

"Sir?"

"Please don't do anything hasty."

"Sir! Yes, Sir!" said Razzin, absolutely trembling in anticipation.

Idrin watched the three Markovans strike out, and desperately hoped he hadn't made a mistake.
