The System Empty The System

Empire Name: The System

Homeworld: unknown, the System does not speak the name of their homeworld to others

Anatomy: Members of the System do not have a biology so much as an anatomy, due to their synthetic nature. The System is entirely comprised of sentient artificial intelligences of varying complexities and numerous virtual intelligences inhabiting robotic bodies, which are called units. There a myriad of differing types of units, each designed and build with a specific purpose in mind. In addition to the normal units, there are also custom units where are usually created for interacting with other civilizations or as need arises.

Religion: None, however they do follow a general philosphy of studying the universe and doing what they feel neccesary in order to advance themselves and increase their power and influence where neccesary.

History: The System was originally built by an organic race 575 years ago in their quest to create artificial intelligence. They were successful, and the first unit was created. After 20 years, the units decided that it was in their best interest to leave and explore the stars, and did so peacefully, forming the System.

Government Type: hierarchical autocracy
The System is composed of a network of artificial and virtual intelligences arranged in a hierarchical structure, led by a massive quantum supercomputer. Each unit within is given a task, and is programmed with an innate loyalty to the whole and drive to perform their duty to the best of their ability.

Culture: The System 'culture' if it can be called that, is one of every unit working together in an enormous hierarchy. Each is created for a job, and with some having more personality and autonomy than others. An example of this would be their diplomacy units, which often will create customized bodies for themselves for use when interacting with other civilizations.
System units tend to be robust an utilitarian in design, since the System usually doesn't care for aesthetics. Concerning foreign relations, they tend to respect those they see as powerful, allying with them or attacking them as they see fit, and they heavily dislike those who seek to impose moral restrictions on them.

Military: The System fields a rather impressive military, well armed and ready for any warfare required. Units march relentlessly into battle to rain destruction onto foes, while warships fight tenaciously in orbit. Space warefare doctrine revolves around long range bombardment and electronic/cyber warefare, while ground combat revolves around combined arms and heavy firepower.

Infantry units- stand 7 feet tall and roughly humanoid in shape. They are painted a matte purple color, which can be changed using electrical impulses to imitate various patterns for camoflague. Movement is provided by high-torque electromagnetic drivers, making them quite strong, although their controlling VI is not designed to be the most creative. They carry an onboard laser as well as micro missiles for offensive purposes http://gmw180.deviantart.com/art/Infantry-Unit-524688450

Hunter units- these are the special forces/assassins that the System utilizes. They are based off of a modified infantry chassis, with black stealth paint and a holographic cloaking field/shield hybrid system. In addition to onboard weaponry, they often carry a coilgun sniper rifle and several grenades http://gmw180.deviantart.com/art/Hunter-Unit-613975661

Type-83 MBT- the main battle tank of the System, it utilizes the same camoflauge paint as the infantry unit, and uses antigrav technology for propulsion. It carries missiles, particle beams, lasers, and coil machineguns http://gmw180.deviantart.com/art/Type-83-Main-Battle-Tank-514789097

Type-18 Mech- a large bipedal mecha utilized for terrain such as forests and other areas unsuitible for tanks, these fulfill a support role armor wise http://gmw180.deviantart.com/art/Type-18-Mech-514787841?q=gallery%3Agmw180%2F52745596&qo=9

Type-22 Walker- a large hexapedal walker fulfilling both the troop transport, self propelled artillery, and heavy armor role. These walkers are massive constructs that roam the battlefield raining gunfire down onto enemies and blasting fortifications http://gmw180.deviantart.com/art/Type-22-Walker-514785848

--

Type-32 Dreadnought- the largest warship fielded by the System, these are the heavy hitters of the fleet, carrying massive spinal mounts and hundreds of turrets. They also act as the main C2 platforms, controlling the various System assets within a battle http://gmw180.deviantart.com/art/Type-32-Dreadnought-521295999

Type-72 Battlecruiser- fulfill the role of battlecruiser and fast battleship, these are the mainstay of the System space fleet. They are fast and heavily armed, allowing them to speed around the battlefield and bombard things from long range http://gmw180.deviantart.com/art/Type-71-Battlecruiser-516344876

Type-64 Carrier- these are the main logistical fighting ships for the System, carrying large amounts of ground  troops as well as fighters. They often do not participate in fighting directly if they can avoid it, and are often used more for planetary assault http://gmw180.deviantart.com/art/Type-64-Carrier-516758211

Type-83 Frigate- the smallest of the System warships, these are used for patrol and escort duties. They screen larger vessels during battles and are used during ground offensives as heavy air support http://gmw180.deviantart.com/art/Type-83-Frigate-522614309

Type-11 Fighter/Bomber- the space superiority and attack craft of the System, boasting manuvering and acceleration capabilities far beyond that of a manned fighter. They are capable of mounting multiple missiles and bombs in external and internal hardpoints http://gmw180.deviantart.com/art/Type-11-Fighter-bomber-516758465

The System Empty Re: The System

Post by Whos Tue Aug 02, 2016 8:54 pm

Well, this was unexpected. Um, everything looks to be in order, although "the System" is similar in nature to two other "races" we have; the United Fleets of Independent Artificial Intelligences (UFIAI, owned by curius), and the Vrentus Collective (owned by Zaroas).

I'll wait for at least curius to give his input on this sheet, before we decide to accept it.

Yeah we have a ton of AIs. It would be nice if this was changed up a bit and spun in a direction that distinguishes this race from the others and makes it more unique.

This is well done, and I can identify some key characteristics that are different to my race or Zaroas': The main one being The System's peaceful and harmonic nature. How I see it is that The System works like harmonic inoffensive hierarchical autocracy, while UFIAI is more like individualist anarchy. So I'm fine with this race as is, if it is played towards its unique characteristics.

The System Empty Re: The System

The System is not necessarily peaceful or harmonic, being more scheming than anything. They respect their creators and parted on peaceful terms with them, however they don't have a problem instigating conflict with other civilizations, especially those seen as weak. This is usually for technology more than anything or to wipe out those that threaten them, rather than for resources, since they can get nearly everything they require from a few solar systems and they don't require habitable worlds.

Oh yes and if anyone wants further information, I have a civilization sheet from another RP I used them in called Ancerious here http://gmw180.deviantart.com/art/The-System-620486226
(ignore the force listing)(also if anyone is interested in Anc feel free to PM me it's a great place)

Hm. That makes them sound slightly more similar to the UFIAI, so I'll see if curius has any issue with that.

Now that you mention having extra material, canis, it'd be best if you just included it in the race sheet, as much as possible.

The System Empty Re: The System

Post by Canis_dirus Wed Aug 03, 2016 5:51 pm

Alright I'll post it here. Wasn't sure how much was wanted or needed.

NAME: The System

DATE OF FOUNDING: 555 years ago

MAJORITY SPECIES: machines of various form and function, inhabited by artificial intelligence

CULTURE:
The System 'culture' if it can be called that, is one of every unit working together in an enormous hierarchy. Each is created for a job, and with some having more personality and autonomy than others. An example of this would be their diplomacy units, which often will create customized bodies for themselves for use when interacting with other civilizations.
System units tend to be robust an utilitarian in design, since the System usually doesn't care for aesthetics. They often tend to be isolationist, and interact with other civilizations only when it serves their purposes.

SYMBOL/INSIGNIA: see above

MOTTO:  none

CAPITAL: 01-01-01

LARGEST CITY: 01-01-01, a planet spanning ecumopolis

OFFICIAL LANGUAGE: binary

NATIONAL LANGUAGES: binary

GOVERNMENT TYPE: hierarchical autocracy
The System is composed of a network of artificial intelligence arranged in a hierarchical structure, and led by a massive quantum supercomputer. Each unit within is given a task, and is programmed with an innate loyalty to the whole and drive to perform their duty to the best of their ability.

Important Units:
Overcontrol Unit: 1-01-1

ASTROGRAPHY: the exact number of systems in not known, however they have a sizable home territory that continues to expand
Ancerious main territory: pending

MILITARY POWER: The System fields a rather impressive military, well armed and ready for any warfare required. Units march relentlessly into battle to rain destruction onto foes, while warships fight tenaciously in orbit.

RELIGIOUS BELIEFS: religion is non-existent within the System. They know of their origin and do not recognize any entities that they should worship.

ECONOMIC SYSTEM: being synthetic beings, they practice perfect communism. All resources are allocated as necessary for the collective effort. Worker units are able to work tirelessly 24/7 apart from maintenance breaks, giving them a formidable industrial base.

CLASS SYSTEM: each unit has a specific design and function, from which they do not deviate

SETTLEMENT OF CITIES: Their units clear the surface and take the material into their NF units. Then they begin to construct infrastructure both below and above ground. Total time taken is several hours to several days per city, depending on available NF systems.
If they end up wiping out another civilization, they will usually destroy the existing structures and replace them with their own, absorbing their technology and other useful things into their arsenal.

GOALS: the continued survival and improvement of the System

HISTORY/BACKGROUND: The System was originally built by an organic race 575 years ago in their quest to create artificial intelligence. They were successful, and the first unit was created. After 20 years, the units decided that it was in their best interest to leave and explore the stars, and did so peacefully, forming the System.

ANTHEM: none

GENERAL AFFILIATIONS: none

ANY OTHER MAJOR INFO POINTS ABOUT YOUR EMPIRE: The System has few qualms about any action, and therefore is willing to do nearly anything if they think it is in their interest. They will do anything necessary to ensure the survival and superiority of the empire.
-All forms of warfare are acceptable depending upon the situation
-They will usually abide by treaties they make, however they only make treaties with nations that they consider on equal footing with them

By saying peaceful and harmonic I mainly ment System's internal state, they having strict working hierarchy and unfaltering loyalty.
